All classes (except test solo) can be accompanied with either backing track or pianist, to be arranged by competitor

 

All song entries must have sheet music attached and contain age-appropriate lyrics.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Classical Solo – song in a classical style

Song in costume – song from any genre in costume

Song of your choice – song from any genre

Musical Theatre Song – song from any Musical. Costume optional

Folk or Cultural song – song from any country, in any language. Costume Optional

Māori Waiata – song in te reo Māori

Sacred Solo – Religious song

Test solo – Song set by the adjudicator

Restricted solo – song for entrants who have not previously placed in this competition

Non-Competitive Song – no judging, just sing for fun! Adjudicator will provide a report.

Established in 1908 by a group of prominent Hawke’s Bay citizens the Society aims to foster and promote all aspects of the Performing Arts.  Our annual competitions festival is held at Easter every year.
